3. The Black Watch Museum
The Black Watch is an elite military regiment dating back centuries. Visit the museum to learn more about the Highlands’ oldest regiment. There’s also a beautiful 12th century castle to explore. Stop at the Copper Beech café for a bite to eat. The menu is full of locally sourced produce and is all freshly made. If you’re really hungry, make sure you pop in on a Sunday for a carvery.
4. The Roost Restaurant
This restaurant was recently described as Scotland’s hidden gem. It’s run by a husband and wife team who have great contacts with local food and drink suppliers. This is reflected in the fantastic menu. Their dedication doesn’t end there. Owners Tim & Anna Dover say: “We enjoy fishing and foraging for our own ingredients – including wild garlic, alexanders and chanterelles – many of which appear on the menus throughout the year.” The whole restaurant has a wonderful, tranquil air to it which makes it perfect for a first date.
5. Loch Leven Walk
Perth is surrounded by some amazing countryside and there are marked walks ranging from two miles up to eight. Take the time to walk around Loch Leven, an important nature reserve. Surrounding the loch are some wonderful pubs, cafés and activity centres. If you don’t fancy walking then you can hire bikes. There are so many beautiful cycling trails and you can cover so many more miles than you would on foot.
6. Balloon Ride
Perth is steeped in history and with so much to see, you should take a Virgin balloon ride to see the city from height.
